Active listening and being fully present with others cannot be underestimated. Every person has a story and every person wants to listen. In the midst of today's busy technology, working longer hours, and pushing to meet deadlines, a customer should be listened to. However, building a therapeutic relationship means listening to the person sitting in front of you, actually listening. Active listening meets one's need, someone's need to understand, and someone's need to listen.
It helps with empathy as the individual tries to understand what life is like for the other by putting themselves in another's shoes. Bonding created through the use of active listening makes social workers the same for clients and co-workers.
Through listening, we have gained insights to improve the system and need insights for service populations.
Listening strengthens confidence as an individual and builds a trusting relationship with others. Active listening emphasizes the value of human relationships, is person-cantered, strengthens the social work profession, and is important in teamwork. Sometimes it is being heard that all people are needed.
Our team has been working in the area since the lockdown was implemented, so people are directly involved with us and there are also some government agencies that are providing us the list of beneficiaries. After receiving the list our team member can be verified by the location itself or the local authority. After verification, our team can deliver the KIT by themselves at the beneficiary's doorstep. So, we deliver the KIT directly to the needy people and create a record for documentation.
